Why is the CIA at the EIJ13?

Among more than 50 other exhibits at the EIJ13 journalism expo is one that might raise a few eyebrows: the CIA.
CIA recruiter Craig P., who said he could not give his last name for security reasons, said the CIA is at the conference because many journalists possess the same skill sets the CIA seeks.
“[We want] people who can ask questions, know how to do some research, know how to critically think,” he said. “And if they can develop some perspective and add some value to it.”
According to a brochure at the table, the CIA hires from more than 50 career disciplines.
“You might be surprised at who works at the CIA,” the brochure says. “Behind every intelligence effort are the extraordinary business and support professionals working in the business of intelligence.”
The brochure goes on to list positions for facilities management, human resources, information technology and logistics officers. Craig P. said the CIA needs employees who are interested in analysis and foreign affairs, areas that typically interest journalists.
